Carlos Díez de Lastra, General Manager, Les Roches Marbella

Carlos Diez de la Lastra Buigues was appointed General Manager of Les Roches Marbella in January 2014. Since taking office he has focused on promoting the expansion of the university on an international scale by leveraging the synergies from being part of the global network of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland.

Since taking on the role as General Manager of Les Roches Marbella he has been dedicated to building the institution’s global reputation as Spain’s leading school for a career in hospitality management while following a sound educational model based on quality, internationality, practicality and one tailored to the professional environment. His passion to empower young people with the professional and intellectual tools needed to pursue a successful career in the hotel & tourism industries has helped to solidify the school’s prestige among top industry employers and recruiters.

During Mr. Díez de la Lastra’s tenure at Les Roches Marbella the school has been recognized with several awards; including the One2One Business Award for Hospitality Training, the Andalusia Excellence Award for Socially Responsible Management, and most recently in 2016, the Institute For Professional Excellence’s Golden Star Award in recognition of the school’s commitment to excellence in education for more than 20 years of training top hotel managers.

Throughout his professional career in the field of university education he has held various executive posts in the areas of marketing, operations and management. His recent positions include the Director of Sales and Customer Services at ISLA (now the Universidad Europea) in Lisbon, Portugal, Vice-President of the Universidad Europea of Madrid and Director General of the Universidad Europea of the Canary Islands. During his tenure at the Universidad Europea of the Canary Islands, he was responsible for the regional project launch and promotion of the first private university in the Canary Islands.

He has taught at the Centre for Economic and Commercial Studies (CECO) and at the Institute for Insurance Mediation and Finance (IMAF) and has lectured at various national and international institutions. He also formed part of the team involved in the proposed introduction of the single European currency collaborating with the Spanish State Society for the Transition to the Euro and the National Consumer Institute.

Carlos Diez de la Lastra graduated in Economics and Business at the Complutense University of Madrid and holds a Master in Business Administration-MBA from IEDE. He is currently working on his PhD in Education.
