First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank all the students who participated in the presentation on campus last Tuesday. It was a success, and we received many volunteers!

I am honored to be given this opportunity by Les Roches Marbella’s Social Responsibility Committee to officially open the Sustainability Club for the whole LRM community. On the day of our presentation, we managed to invite two guest speakers to come to our school to give an insight into their organization. First, we heard from Debra, an organization that mainly helps children who suffer from Epidermolysis Bullosa (butterfly skin), and Triple A, a local animal shelter.

Our club has lined up many activities for the students this semester to participate in: from helping children and the elderly to animals and the environment.

On October 24th we will be giving a fun cooking class for kids that will be held in our school’s Olivo Restaurant kitchen and the money received will be donated directly to the Debra organization. We will also be collaborating with Triple A during their annual dog show on November 15th by setting up a booth for visitors to purchase food and beverages. The funds raised will also be donated to Triple A organization.

The Sustainability Club will also collaborate with the Les Roches Marbella Houses to launch a sticker competition with the purpose of reducing water, energy and food wastage. Additionally, there are some other activities such as reading for the elderly that we are planning and will be announced once it is confirmed.

Also, Triple A has weekly ‘walk the dogs’ activities held every Saturday between 9:00AM and 12:00PM, and they are always short of volunteers. For those who are interested in some morning exercise with the dogs, you are more than welcome to join them. Don’t worry, for all my cat lovers, they also have a cat shelter that can always use some volunteers!

The solidarity and spirit of teamwork that my fellow students display through their volunteer work perfectly shows why Les Roches Marbella is more than just a school; it is a community. Let us all work together to give back to our community what they have given to us. Let us discover what is truly meant by the ‘Les Roches way of life’.
